Yes. If you are transfer/transit passenger and you need to go through the immigration control to recheck your baggage or for any other reasons, you are required to get a K-ETA.

When applying for K-ETA, if you are staying at a transit hotel at Incheon Airport, you can write down the address of the transit hotel, and if you are staying at the airport without staying at a hotel, you can write down the airport address.

• Transfer passengers are required to obtain K-ETA approval in the following cases:

• 1) If the transfer passenger needs to enter the Republic of Korea because of itinerary change (or change of destination)

• UN passport holders

• People who are exempt from K-ETA but ★NEED to obtain approval for K-ETA exemption in advance

Ministry of Justice informed via official letter on March 25, 2022 that applicants need to apply for K-ETA

at least 72 hours prior to boarding the flight as the workload is expected to be increased due to the expansion of the number of countries available for K-ETA application.

However, due to an unexpected increase of applications, the result may not be notified within 72 hours.

Therefore, please apply for the K-ETA with plenty of time in advance.

※ Because of COVID-19, the assessment of K-ETA may be strengthened.

Therefore, it is recommended to apply for K-ETA closer to the expected arrival date (1-2 months prior to expected date of entry)

rather than applying several months in advance.
